OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide grants to Police Agencies K9 program that do not have an allocated budget and Retired Police K9’s in need of funding.

OUR GOAL

We are here to help as many Police K-9’s possible in need of funds. Raising awareness as to how these police dogs impact not only our community, but yours as well. The key is to educate and inform those that don’t understand why these police dogs are so vital to police agencies and the communities they serve. Knowledge along with your support can make all the difference for your safety and theirs. We welcome you to join us in this mission. With your help and support, we will be able to help these deserving K9’s receive everything they need to stay safe. Your donation and proceeds from our store will help pay unexpected medical expenses, receive essential equipment much needed to stay safe and training to have all the tools to protect both them and us.

K9 Buddy worked 6 distinguished years for the Palmer Police Department in Massachusetts partnered with his handler, Ofc Ford. He worked tirelessly to keep Ofc Ford and the people of the community safe. He was eager for every shift like it was his first. Together, this team was unbeatable. He simply was one of a kind and had a larger than life personality.

Since K-9 Buddy joined the police department in 2014, he played an instrumental role for the community and throughout Western Massachusetts. He assisted with numerous motor vehicle searches, tracks for missing or wanted persons as well as searches for articles. K-9 Buddy was a dual purpose police dog that was trained in patrol work which included handler protection, narcotic detection, evidence searches and suspect apprehension.

At work, he was full of endless energy. K9 Buddy had many deployments that resulted in notable accomplishments and received many certificates of commendation and letters of recognition. He had an amazing personality (as pictured here) he excelled at his job. He was loved by everyone.

In his short retirement, his focus changed from a working dog to his family. He loved everyone he met, especially if they met him at the treat jar. Buddy was an extraordinary Police dog and family dog and is dearly missed. He was never “just a dog”, he was so much more.

Sadly, on April 1, 2022, Buddy lost his battle to cancer. His passing was felt deeply by the people in Palmer Massachusetts.

Because K-9 Buddy made such an impact to our founder Jan Garabedian, The Buddy Foundation was created. Buddy’s memory will live on forever while helping other K9 teams receive the funds they desperately need.

PALMER -- Palmer police credited their K-9 dog, Buddy, with helping to save the life of a suicidal male on the Fourth of July.

Police said that on July 4 at 7:43 p.m., they responded to the Bondsville section of Palmer for a report of a suicidal male who ran off into the woods near his home. Police were told the person had a knife and rope with him.

Patrolmen established a perimeter of the scene.

Patrolman Sean Ford deployed K-9 Buddy to track the individual. With Buddy's help, the person was located and transported to the hospital.

Police said the area is known as the Lily pond, and according to local legend, it is a bottomless pond.
